Aarburg · Switzerland · founded 2025Market entry is a permission problem.
In regulated markets the buyer is never just the buyer. Banks, insurers, exchanges and public institutions purchase through compliance, procurement and policy — and most good products fail there, not on merit. WSG is a Swiss commercial advisory for companies that need to get through: positioning, partnerships and pipeline, run directly by the principal.
The workFour kinds of engagement
Most clients arrive with one of four problems: they cannot explain themselves to a Swiss buyer, they have no repeatable way of opening partnerships, their pipeline never converts into a forecast — or a decision on their table has acquired a political dimension nobody on the team is equipped to frame. Each is worked directly, not advised on from a distance.
Market entry — Switzerland, DACH, EU
Translating an offer into something a Swiss or German buyer will approve: positioning, the local objection map, regulatory framing, and the first twenty conversations with the right people.
- Positioning for buyers, partners and investors
- Deal-specific proposals and pitch design
- Market-entry brief and target map
Partnerships and channel
Opening and structuring the partnerships that produce revenue rather than logos — resell, referral, co-sell and integration — including the commercial terms and the enablement behind them.
- Partner identification and qualification
- Structuring and negotiation support
- Enablement and joint pipeline
Prospecting and pipeline
Outbound run end to end — LinkedIn and email, single-thread and multi-step — with the CRM discipline and follow-through that keep a forecast honest at ninety days.
- Sequences written and executed
- CRM and pipeline management
- Event-driven business development
Strategic assessment
For decisions that touch sanctions exposure, security review or public procurement: scenario mapping, counterparty and policy-risk framing, and the concise brief a board or investment committee actually reads.
- Market-entry and exit scenarios
- Sanctions and policy exposure framing
- Procurement and stakeholder mapping
Where WSG operatesDeliberately narrow
The practice is limited to sectors where the buying process, the regulator and the objections are already familiar. Work outside these is declined rather than learned on a client’s budget.
- Verticals
- Blockchain, fintech and digital assets — including RegTech and compliance, tokenisation, and stablecoins and payments.
- Geography
- Switzerland and DACH as the core market; the broader EU on demand.
- Sell side
- Founders and commercial leads of early-stage and scaling companies in financial services and the digital-asset ecosystem.
- Buy side
- Banks, asset managers, exchanges and insurers buying regulated technology — and the public and quasi-public buyers where technology meets security review.
- Current mandate
- Announced regional growth partner of Nominis (blockchain intelligence and KYT) for DACH and Central Europe — a commercial relationship, disclosed in line with the standard below.
- Languages
- Native German, near-native English. Meetings, documents and negotiation in either.
Published work“Who gets to move money — and who decides.”
The Money Perimeter is the publication WSG’s founder writes: a running account of the machinery that decides who can move money — the sanctions perimeter states draw around adversaries, the compliance perimeter regulators draw around firms, and the geopolitical boundaries finance keeps crossing. A maintained regulatory timeline and a reference guide sit alongside the essays.
It exists for a practical reason. Before you hire an advisor to open a regulated market, you should be able to read how he thinks — and check whether he sources it.
The standard it is written to: every external fact is dated and sourced. Company self-reported numbers are hedged as “X states”. Counterparties in field stories are anonymised. Companies I work with are disclosed when mentioned — and never pitched. When I don’t know, I say so in print.
Who you would be working withMichael Waniek
Founder and principal. Seven years of account, sales and partnership work across the financial sector: wealth intelligence at Wealth-X; institutional client work in BlackRock’s iShares and ETF unit under MiFID II; regulated banking and payments at Brighty in Zug; B2B fintech SaaS at Friday Finance and Coinpanion; and building the enterprise sales function at fija Finance — a Swiss data-infrastructure platform serving exchanges and institutional venues, acquired by Keyrock in early 2026.
Equally at home with established asset managers and banks, with scaling fintech and SaaS companies, and with crypto firms serving institutional clients. Comfortable across C-suite, compliance and engineering conversations in the same meeting — and used to translating specialised technology for non-technical buyers, and the other way around.
Trained in political science, social and cultural anthropology and international business — University of Vienna, Andrássy University Budapest, IMC Krems, and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management’s Bitcoin Talents Program. Earlier: the Executive Secretariat of the Austrian Federal Chancellery during the 2018 EU Council Presidency, and the EU Delegation in Kuala Lumpur. Based in Aarburg, near Zürich.

How to startA 30-minute call, with an agenda
The first conversation is diagnostic, not promotional. Useful things to bring: which buyer you would back for the next twelve months; how much qualified pipeline stands against the number you need; where deals actually stall; and the one outcome you would hand an outside operator for the next ninety days.
